![]() ![]() HOW TO BE AN ACTIVIST WITHOUT EVEN TRYING!
In 2000 The Advocates for Self-Government suggested that every Libertarian convert at least one person to libertarianism. That message really hit home with me, and, to a great extent, was the motivation behind the creation of this site. ![]() That year I passed out literature, copies of The World's Smallest Political Quiz, and talked with anyone who'd give me the time of day. As a result three of my friends resolved to vote Libertarian, (unfortunately, one failed to register in time). Just imagine if every Libertarian did the same! In fact, if you happen to be a Libertarian, I'd challenge you to do likewise. Unlike religious conversion, the libertarian variety needn't involve changing another's persons beliefs. Often, it's simply a matter of introducing them to a movement which embodies ideals they already possess; that's why the Quiz is so effective. The process can be a lot like romance: don't be impatient, but don't bang you head against the wall either; if there's no interest, move on until you find someone who appreciates what you have to offer. Are you a small business owner? Place a literature display stand in a prominent location at your place of business (counters, lobbys, reception areas) and wallet-size copies of the Quiz, (letter-size versions available in printable PDF). Additionally, The International Society for Individual Liberty offers brochures on a wide variety of issues, and the tabloid-style Discover Liberty (also available in PDF) is also well-suited for neighborhood and business distribution. For the slightly more ambitious, check out Operation Politically Homeless and Lights of Liberty at The Advocates for Self-Government site, or the numerous goings on at The Daily Paul. And last, but certainly not least, be sure and tell your friends about CAVEAT. Our animated SPECIAL FOCUS gif is the perfect size for your myspace page. Place an animated gif-banner combo at the bottom or top of your home page. It's simple, non-fattening, and relatively pain-free! |
