Syndicated radio talk show host Neal Boortz In early September of 2000 one of the world's leading polling firms, Rasmussen Research, conducted a non-commissioned scientific poll involving broad cross-section of likely American voters. Dubbed "The Libertarian Litmus Test," the poll asked questions posed by The World's Smallest Political Quiz, a libertarian outreach tool. Of those surveyed 16% reflected a decidedly libertarian perspective as opposed to liberal (13%) and conservative (7%). Of the remainder, 32% of participants were identified as centrist, 14% authoritarian, while 17% were on the borders of those categories. In addition, a full 28-68% of those polled were in agreement with the defining issues of the Libertarian Party. Ironically, the poll revealed that a mere two percent of those in the libertarian category use the word "libertarian" to describe their views. While millions of Americans are libertarian or libertarian-leaning, very few are aware of the fact that there exists a philosophy that reflects their views.
